Responsible for recruitment, introduction and enrollment of new administrators into the New Orleans Chapter. Responsibilities also include mentoring new members and upkeep of the membership database, ala-no group/website updates and publication of membership handbook & pictorial directory.

Education & Programs

The Education & Program Committee is responsible for selection and coordination of topics and qualified speakers for the monthly, general membership meeting. The Committee is also charged with polling or surveying the membership regarding concerns or topics that it would like to be educated on and to plan/coordinate education programs to address these concerns/topics. The Committee is responsible for all arrangements and notification to all members, as well as timely sending to Regional, an evaluation of comments received on the various speakers. The Education & Program Committee Chair is also responsible for overseeing activities of the CLM Certification Subcommittee and making recommendations to the Board to help assure appropriate Chapter support of its membership seeking certification.

Newsletter & Publicity

Coordinate a team to construct a newsletter that will provide valuable information to our local members, including but not limited to the following tasks: contact vendors or legal industry providers to contribute informative article relating to legal administration and/or new trends; provide a calendar of events of local and national ALA activities; produce (design, format, edit) the newsletter; publish and mail.

Vendor Sponsorship

The Vendor Sponsorship Committee is responsible for securing Vendors for all of the levels from Platinum to Bronze, collecting the fees, planning the annual Vendor Sponsor Appreciation Social, providing the Sponsors with all of their sponsorship benefits, and coordinating the awarding of the various educational scholarships to the National ALA Conference, ALA Region IV Educational Conference and the Chapter Leadership Institute (CLI) for chapter officer training. This program is one of the major fund raising initiatives of the chapter and enables the New Orleans Chapter to provide first-class educational programs for its members. In addition, it is chaired by one of the chapter's leading administrative jugernauts of the industry who happens to be a great person, fun to be with, and can be seen at all of the places to be seen.

Vendor Fair

Vendor Fair Responsible for event coordination including site selection, securing vendors and collecting fees. The vendor event is the Chapter's primary fundraiser, which supplements membership dues to provide operating funds for educational purposes.

Salary Survey

This committee coordinates the annual publication of the New Orleans Law Firm Salaries and Benefits Survey, including the collection of data, working with a public accounting firm on presenting survey results, and distribution of the survey booklet.

Legal Secretary Certificate Program

The goal is to encourage and bring to fruition, trained qualified legal secretaries to the greater New Orleans area. To attain that goal, we will work with the Legal Secretaries of the New Orleans and River Region Association to provide Delgado with a review board as well as training assistance. We will also meet with high school guidance counselors to encourage interest in the legal secretarial field.

The Bylaws committee is charged with the responsibility of reviewing the Chapter Bylaws each year to assure that the chapter is performing its duties in compliance with the Bylaws. When necessary the Bylaws Committee will make recommendations for revision to the Board and membership and serve as liaison with National to assure that the chapter bylaws are consistent with National's.
